Queen Alia International Airport Welcomes More Than One Million Passengers in August

Al-Taj News – Airport International Group, the Jordanian operator of Queen Alia International Airport, announced the airport’s air traffic statistics for August, which showed a notable increase compared with the previous month, coinciding with increased travel activity during the summer season.

The group said in a statement Thursday that despite this increase during the month, passenger traffic remained slightly below the level recorded during the same period in 2025.

Queen Alia International Airport welcomed 1,041,415 passengers in August 2026, recording a notable increase of 7.6% compared with July 2026, and a slight decrease of 3.7% compared with August 2025.

The airport recorded 7,868 aircraft movements, an increase of 6.3% compared with the previous month, and a decrease of 6.1% year-on-year.

At the same time, the airport handled 7,925 tonnes of air cargo during the month, an increase of 4.4% compared with July 2026, and an increase of 3.7% compared with the same month last year.

Amid continued challenges and instability in the region, August’s results indicate a notable improvement in activity following the fluctuations witnessed during the previous months of the year, as the significant month-on-month increases in passenger, aircraft, and air cargo traffic reflect the airport’s ability to accommodate growing demand during the peak summer travel season.

The group’s Chief Executive Officer, Nicolas Devilliers, said that the results for August reflect the continued role of Queen Alia International Airport in supporting tourism and economic activity in Jordan, with the number of passengers passing through the airport exceeding the one-million mark during the month.
